The great benefit of connecting the DR-S15o to a network via the Wi-Fi or RJ-45 Ethernet connection, instead of USB, is that there is no operating system requirements.  The scanner connects to the Capture OnTouch Admin (COTA) server and the server itself is the required part that does the image processing and workflow.  COTA is extremely useful for a fleet of scanners of 3 or more because of the centralized workflow convenience.
